Awards

As you progress through Online Compass a range of certificates and awards become available to recognise and celebrate your progress. Achieving an award provides access to certificates, press release templates and logos for your use. These can be downloaded once the required levels have been met by visiting the Review section and opening the Dashboard. In the section below you will find descriptions of the certificates and awards and how they can be achieved:


Online Compass Certificate

As soon as you register for Online Compass, you can download the Online Compass certificate, from the Dashboard. This shows that you have begun the journey towards improving online safety for your group.


Online Compass Bronze Award


To achieve the Bronze Award, your ratings should be at least amber for all parts. You can then download the Bronze Award certificate, from the Dashboard.

Once you have rated all your parts at least at amber (no reds), the Bronze Award logo on the Dashboard will be highlighted and you can download the certificate by clicking on the logo. The Bronze Award lasts for three years and the certificate will show the expiry date.



Online Compass Silver Award


The Silver Award requires validation by the Online Compass team. To achieve the Silver Award, your ratings should be at least amber for all parts but also include at least four parts rated at green. You must also provide written evidence about your online safety provision.

Once you have rated all parts at least at amber, with at least four parts at green the Silver Award logo on the Dashboard will be highlighted and you will be able to click on the logo to access an application form for the Silver Award. To gain the Award you must submit the form which includes a section where you are asked to describe how the leadership of online safety is provided in your group and how you ensure that it is owned by all users. (approx 150 words). You will also be required to upload the following documents (using the "Upload Supporting Information button"):

• Your Group's Online Safety Policy
• Evidence of education / awareness provided for young people in the group
• Evidence of training for staff / volunteers.

There is a charge of £50 (+VAT) for an Online Compass Silver Award submission.

The Online Compass Team will review the application. If the application is approved you will be notified by email and you will be able to click on the Silver Award logo in the Dashboard to download your Silver Award certificate. The Award will be current for three years.




Online Compass Gold Award


To achieve the gold award you must have completed all parts at amber and at least nine parts at green. Additional written evidence will be required and, as this is a prestigious achievement it will involve a visit from an Online Compass assessor.

Once you have rated all parts at least at amber, with at least nine parts at green the Gold Award logo on the Dashboard will be highlighted and you will be able to click on the logo to access an application form for the Gold Award. To gain the Award you must submit the form and upload a copy of your group's Online Safety Policy (using the "Upload Supporting Information button"):

There is a charge of £550 (+VAT) for an Online Compass Gold Award submission.
The Online Compass Team will review the application and will contact you to arrange for the Assessor's half day visit to your group to review your application and meet the leaders / staff / volunteers / young people / parents (as relevant).
If the application is approved you will be notified on the day of the visit. You will also receive an Assessor's report that indicates the strengths and areas for further development in your online safety provision. You will also be able to click on the Gold Award logo in the Dashboard to download your Silver Award certificate. You will have the right to use the Online Compass Gold Award logo on your headed paper / website etc. The Award will be current for three years.

Successful groups will also receive a high quality named Online Compass Gold Award wall plaque.
